Various Charlotte employment opportunities are being posted in the Internet and anybody who’s got the skills, ability, knowledge and is able to qualify for the selection process of the companies will surely be glad of the opportunity to land a job in a city that is highly praised for its progressive economic activities and vibrant business sector. The city’s nickname “Queen City” was made in honor of Princess Charlotte of Mecklenburg. Charlotte is the 18th largest city in the nation with an estimated population of 756,912 residents. The city ranked 8th of the 100 “Best Places to Live and Launch” by CNN Money taking into consideration the vibrant lifestyles and new opportunities for businesses and in 2008 it was chosen by relocate-America.com as the “Best Place to Live in America” based on factors such as housing affordability, crime rates and Charlotte employment opportunities.

Among the top Charlotte employment providers is the banking industry. Charlotte is considered as the largest banking headquarters in the country trailing behind New York City. The city’s banking industry started to flourish in the 1970s and 1980s under the leadership of financier Hugh McColl. He was the one responsible in transforming the North Carolina National Bank (NCNB) into a tough national player that became known as NationsBank which joined together with BankAmerica and was later named Bank of America. Bank America is the country’s biggest financial institution by assets and is home in this beautiful city providing an unwavering pool of jobs for the citizens as well as immigrant jobseekers. Aside from the Bank of America which has its headquarters in the financial district of the city, other renowned companies also have their headquarters in the metropolitan area including: SPX Corporation (an industrial technology firm), Goodrich Corporation, Family Dollar, Sonic Automotive, Duke Energy, Nucor, and Lowe’s. Other big corporations that have either have their headquarters or regional operations in the city are: Carolina Beverage Corporation, Food Lion, Compass Group USA, Lending Tree, Carlisle Companies, Bojangles’, Carolina Foods Inc., Lance Inc., Harris Teeter, Belk, Muzak, Continental Tire North America, ESPNU, Speed Channel and Time Warner Cable. The above named companies offer various Charlotte employment opportunities that are suitable to each jobseeker and among the top jobs for Charlotte are: Sales associate, Sales representatives, Business analysts, cashier and Assistant Managers. The top employers in Charlotte are IBM with 293 employees, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools with 298 employees, TIAA-CREF with 340 employees, Carolinas HealthCare Systems with 495 employees and Bank of America with 1,176 employees.

Other sectors such as the motorsports industry, energy-oriented organizations, trucking and transportation industry also contribute to the economic activities of the city. In fact approximately 75 percent of NASCAR personnel live only within two hours of Charlotte and the presence of over 180 companies that are connected to energy sector employing over 13,200 employees are just some of the proof of the city’s vibrancy in terms of Charlotte employment opportunities. At present there are on-going projects to fuel up the city’s economy such as the construction or completion of many skyscrapers that will improve the city’s skyline and the opening up of new bars, clubs and restaurants in the city.

If you want a fast-paced work environment and make quick cash legally with lots of personal interaction, then a restaurant job is for you. In fact, many people are turning towards the service industry not only as a supplementary income but as a career. Check the classified section of your local paper of local online classified to find jobs as servers, bartenders or busboys. You can also ask restaurant managers or even servers if their organization is hiring more employees because some restaurants don’t advertise unless they are really desperate to staff a position. Use career resources like accountants, chefs, and culinary schools because they help their graduates find good paying jobs too. Polish your resume and emphasize relevant experience and useful skills you might have such as bartending or speaking another language which is a plus. Dress for success during the interview by looking as if you already fit in with the current staff. Get enough sleep, speak clearly, and sit up straight, answer questions clearly and only ask intelligent questions like the training programs provided to employees when you are asked whether you have any questions because this will show the hiring manager that you are interested in doing your job well.
